紅十字會已經透過手機短訊,呼籲醫生前往內地救災,現階段需要有處理trauma經驗的醫護人員,如外科(包括骨科)醫生、、急症科醫生和深切治療部醫生,前往加入救災。
基督教施達基金會的夥伴國際專業服務機構(MSI Professional Services)將會於星期日組織第一批醫生前往當地,並開始召募以下人手:
第一隊為急救隊伍,主力參與救援及醫療服務,預計下週出發,需要:有急救經驗者、醫護人員包括醫生(尤其是骨科專科)及護士、消防員
第二隊為救援隊伍,待第一隊返港後緊接出發;需要:輔導人員、醫生、後勤人員

醫管局亦有派出醫療隊伍前往協助,從新聞稿得知成員多為非常資深的專科醫生,甚至是教授級的醫生。
由於當地大部份的傷者受到骨折所傷,現時災區最需要的有骨科手術經驗的醫生前往。當地的醫護人員已經連續工作超過七十小時,身心疲憊,極需要有人手接更以讓其休息。
截至執筆之時為止,香港紅十字會並未向港人發出為內地災民捐血的呼籲,因為國內同胞也都踴躍自願捐血,血液供應暫時未見緊張。

HSBC donates another RMB4 million for earthquake victims
The Hongkong Bank Foundation, HSBC’s charitable arm, is committing an additional RMB4 million to match donations from the public wishing to support recovery work in mainland China following the recent earthquake. The RMB4 million commitment from HSBC is in addition to the RMB10 million in funds donated by the Bank already.
The Bank has established a dedicated account to take donations from its employees, customers and the general public. Donations can be made at any HSBC or Hang Seng Bank ATM, at http://www.hsbc.com.hk or through any of the Bank’s branches using the HSBC China Earthquake Relief account number 808– 459085–001. The account will be open for donation collections until 31 May 2008.
Vincent Cheng, Chairman of The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited, said: “We are appealing to our staff, customers and the general public to make donations to support much needed recovery work to help earthquake victims rebuild their lives. Whether people can spare a few dollars or a thousand, we will support their efforts by matching their donations dollar for dollar.”
All donations collected by HSBC will be made through the Hong Kong branch of the Red Cross Society of China.
